Historic Hills and redbud program featured in Iowa Gardening magazine
The Redbud tree planting program in the southern Iowa counties of Historic Hills has resulted in a steady growth in the tree’s numbers since the program began five years ago. Now the program has grabbed the attention of Iowa Gardening magazine. Historic Hills and the tree planting program are featured in the April/Spring issue of quarterly distributed magazine.
The Historic Hills Advisory Committee is a sub-committee of the Chariton Valley Transportation Planning Affiliation and is comprised of tourism and economic development leaders from the southern Iowa counties of Appanoose, Clarke, Davis, Decatur, Lucas, Monroe, Van Buren, Wapello, and Wayne. The group has worked together since 2001 to develop and implement a marketing strategy to promote the region as a tourism destination area.
